Atlanta, Georgia – June 1, 2009 – InView, The Leader in Vision Correction, is pleased to introduce Laser-Reflex Surgery - a new surgical procedure that optimizes a patient’s post-cataract vision to meet the needs of their lifestyle after cataract surgery.
Currently there are several alternatives available to restore vision once a cataract has been detected by your doctor:
No surgery. If a patient elects not to have surgery, they may be able to wear contacts and glasses to correct their vision for some time. However, as the cataract worsens, their vision will continue to decline, and it will not be possible to restore useful vision until surgery is performed to remove the clouding lens.
Standard cataract surgery. A patient may elect to have standard cataract surgery (refractive lens exchange). In most cases, standard cataract surgery is less costly, but most patients will need to wear glasses for optimal distance and near vision.
Multi-focal implants. Multifocal intraocular lens implants that will correct presbyopia post-cataract surgery are offered through InView. These lenses were designed for patients who have not had previous laser vision surgery. Because the eyes of patients who have had previous laser vision surgery have more complex optical properties, multi-focal lenses have less predictable outcomes without an easy way to modify the result.
LASER-REFLEX SURGERY is the combination of refractive lens exchange (also known as cataract surgery with the implantation of an intraocular lens IOL) to restore the clarity of the patient’s eyesight, followed by laser vision surgery to optimize and to fine-tune their vision to meet the needs of their lifestyle. This alternative provides better outcomes for patients who have previously had laser vision surgery.
InView’s LASER-REFLEX PROGRAM also provides the patient with a lifetime vision plan that covers the costs of any laser re-treatments, should their vision change in the future.
